Google page rank humor
For those that don’t read the Gummy comic regularly, here’s the latest comic I posted there. Thought I’d poke a little fun at all the recent Google page rank silliness going on. If you don’t feel like squinting to read it, you can click the image and see the larger version on the Gummy site.

My newest project - I must be insane
Nov 12, 2007 Announcements, Blogging
Recently I decided three blogs just wasn’t enough. Oh no, I’ve decided to launch a fourth one. This time the focus will be on something I love very much - Independent films. The name of the site is IndieBlurb and the goal is to not only present news and resources related to independent films, but also to eventually (hopefully) feature interviews with those involved in the industry. My cousin Jonathan and I are doing this site together. He’s the same guy I wrote a screenplay with and he also has a huge love for indie films. Occasionally we’ll also write about films that are more in the mainstream, but for the most part we’ll be sticking to the indie flicks.

Several years ago I operated a site named Ventana which focused on indie and lesser known musicians. We featured and interviewed several bands that are now pretty well known, for example Lacuna Coil, a pretty popular Gothic Rock band from Italy. In just a few short months the traffic on that site was quite good - well over 150,000 visitors a month. I’m hoping to follow a similar path as I did with that site to find success with this new project. We’ll see how it goes =)
If anyone would like to give a little blogroll or link love I’d hugely appreciate it :D

I am the blog!
My buddy Mark recently launched his new Be The Blog award and was gnarly enough to make me one of its first recipients. According to Mark this award is for bloggers “who make a blog their own, stay with it, are interactive with their readers, and just plain have fun.” I try :)
Mark created his award in three delicious colors - Creamy Cabernet, Midnight Oil and Pink Smoothie. I decided to go with the Midnight Oil version, since I find myself burning it often. The midnight oil that is, not Mark’s award. I’ve chosen a few folks to pass the award along to, who of course can turn around and pass it along to those I didn’t =)
Head over to Mark’s site to grab the award in the color that you like most!
And the winners are… (drumroll)
I really need to update my awards page. Oy!

A little link love - Week 27
Nov 9, 2007 Blogging, Link Love
It’s that time again! I’ve been busy with a few different projects over the last several days and on top of that have been sick AGAIN, so I have a feeling I’m terribly late with the love this week. At least I didn’t forget!
- Money Listers - Garry Conn and David Cooley want to help you find the “how to make money” articles you crave without having to wade through all the irrelevant fluff you’ll find on some of the most popular and successful makey money online websites. With their system they pull feeds from hundreds of websites and filter all the content not related to making money. Sounds like a heck of a great idea to me!
- The Secret to Building a Popular Blog - Feeling like your blog could use a boost of popularity? If anyone has the experience and authority to teach how to make a blog more popular and successful, it’s Maki over at Dosh Dosh.
- Make money with Google adsense - Soon I’ll be launching a new niche website and one of my hopes is to generate some revenue with the site via Adsense. I stumbled upon this article which contains some super advice which I plan to take to heart.
- A review of Brown Thoughts - It took me a while but I finally got around to writing a review for Baron’s website! I’ve meaning to do this for a while. Better late than never I suppose ;)

My 15 minutes of fame
Nov 7, 2007 Blogging
Back in early June (or maybe it was July) Tish and I were approached by USA Today who were planning to write a story about Glaucoma. Somehow they found out we’d be blogging for the Glaucoma Foundation during the Blogathon and asked to interview us for their story. Our hope was that the story would be released before the Blogathon and help us receive more pledges. Alas the story did not run before the Blogathon. We were pretty bummed about that.
Many weeks went by and still no story. FINALLY, several months later USA Today has published the story. Behold my 15 minutes of fame.
I feel like Elvis or something. Sort of.
