Introduction
Hola people! Me llamo Miguel, but you can call me Mike. I am a 33 year old freelance artist (aka struggling artist), aspiring screenwriter, filmmaker and occasional web comic cartoonist from a tiny little town named Cortland nestled in the middle of nowhere in Upstate New York. There’s no sense in trying to find me on a map unless you feel like squinting. In fact I’m not even sure you’d find me with a magnifying glass. If you’re reading this page you’re probably interested in learning a bit more about me. Well, I’m not really a big fan of writing about myself, so you’ll have to bear with me.

Why Do I Blog?
It’s a source of fun and relaxation for me and a great way to meet new and interesting people all over the planet. I’m not a very talkative person and generally prefer not to speak a whole lot so blogging would be my alternate voice I suppose. I can talk all day about things that interest me without having to make a peep and in the process meet people who have similar interests.

What interests me?
As I mentioned I am an artist so obviously that’s one of my passions. I also have a huge love for music and have played guitar for roughly 20 years. I don’t play so much anymore but there was a time when I used to practice upwards of 8 hours per day and did the whole band thing. The passion for it just isn’t quite there like it used to be. I still enjoy playing every once in a while though.

Another big passion of mine is movies. I’m a fan of films that have well written dialogue. Action and special effects are great but without a compelling story and dialogue it’s all lost on me. Not only do I love to watch movies but it’s a goal of mine to also make them. I’ve already completed one screenplay and am currently working on a second. I write with my cousin Jonathan who also has just as much passion as I do for film. Recently we purchased a hi-def video camera and hopefully with a little time invested, we’ll eventually be producing indie films.

I’m also a huge fan of college sports, particularly football and basketball. I follow Syracuse University since it’s the school most local to me, playing major college sports. The football team pretty much sucks right now but I still cheer them on. I’m a pretty loyal fan.

  • This blog has been online in one form another since roughly June of 2006, though if memory serves, I registered the domain in May 2006.
  • I happily use HostGator as my web host of choice. They offer solid uptime, fantastic customer support and a killer price.
