No that’s not a typo in my headline. It’s my lousy attempt at being witty. Anywho, strangely overnight my Alexa rating on this blog improved by about 60,000. What perplexes me about that is the fact that my traffic has been pretty much status quo for a few weeks now. No huge dips and no giant stampedes of Stumble traffic.
Has anyone seen any sudden large increases/decreases in their numbers? It’s no wonder most people don’t put much stock in Alexa traffic ratings.
UPDATE: Thanks to Stephan for filling me on Alexa’s recent overhaul in their algorithm. I guess I’m slacking a little in keeping up with what’s going on lately.

First mine increased with like 30,000, now it has decreased over the past few days with about 15,000. So well, you can’t really believe that they are accurate stats. Some say that Alexa has changed their way of counting traffic and stuff so perhaps that is why it changes so much…

Alexa drastically changed their algorithm last night. It has stressed out a few bloggers.

Stephan, thanks for the heads up. Admittedly I haven’t really been making rounds in the blogosphere much the past few weeks, in order to keep up with what’s going on. I think it’s about time they made some changes to their system. We’ll have to wait and see how much more accurate it will be though, I suppose
Actually, their new algorithm is the first fair one they’ve ever had. All they changed was in not giving sites visited by readers using the Alexa toolbar an unfair advantage. Money bloggers have always had that advantage because every money blogger uses the toolbar…haha! Mine improved by 20,000

I actually don’t even pay attention to that stuff anymore. I just let it do whatever it does.
