Time lapse footage of the Aurora Australis
One of my most favorite things that I don’t think I’ve ever mentioned here before is the Aurora Borealis, more commonly known as the Northern Lights. I was lucky enough to witness them once when I was just a wee lad and they have fascinated me ever since. It’s quite an amazing light show.
There is however a southern light show as well known as the Aurora Australis. The following video was filmed during an Antarctic winter, where the sun is below the horizon for four months out of the year. The southern lights are every bit as amazing as their northern counterparts.

I always wondered what they looked like in person. Don’t know if I’ll ever get the chance to do that, but it is an incredible sight to witness even as a video.
It’s a pretty amazing sight, buddy. I was about 8 years old and I remember my grandfather waking me up at like 1 in the morning to come “look at the lights outside”. I went out and looked towards the north and just let out a big “whoaaa”. LOL
Hi Mike! I’ve witnessed some pretty wild kaleidoscopic colors before…but not from the Borealis…hehe. Id love to see the real deal in person (actually, I dying to)!
Bobby Revell’s last blog post..The Blood River Flesh Hunter
Hey Bobby! I’d love to be able to see it again. Hopefully one day the conditions will be just right again so that I’ll be able to. I’d be whipping out the hi def camera for sure ;P
