Blockbuster Ghost - A clever hoax or the real thing?
Posted By Mike on June 4th, 2008
I’m often searching around on Youtube looking at various paranormal and ghost related videos. It’s something that’s always interested and fascinated me. I’m one of those many millions of people addicted to shows like Ghost Hunters.
Anywho, in my travels on Youtube, I came across this video which allegedly portrays a little haunting at a Blockbuster video store. The footage is shot from the security cameras. What do you think? Is it real?
I can think of ways that you could fake something like this, but if it is a hoax, they did a pretty nice job ![]()

Probably a hoax.
Maybe a bit elaborate, but still a hoax.

Probably a hoax. More fun to think it’s not, though.
And it’s a little creepy, innit?
I’m voting hoax. A well done hoax, but a hoax nonetheless. If you look closely, the second time the dvd falls off the shelf and he returns to put it back, there seems to be a “shift” in lighting on the overall shelf. Maybe I’m imagining that, but I could swear a change in shade when he returned and left and I’m not talking about his shadow.
Another thing is those dvds just happened to be in the right place of the camera. Most ghosts I know are far more random in their selection of dvds, sometimes going for the bottom shelf. But these were in convenient view.
Besides, if it was a ghost, what’s that guy got against them? I mean, maybe that ghost wanted to see that movie but all he could do was knock it off the shelf and needed a little help from the clerk. Very disappointing customer service.
Or maybe the ghost didn’t like the movie and was trying to tell the guy to not sell it anymore. LOL

@Bucky: Yep, most likely. It was mildly entertaining though ;P
@Mark: So you know some ghosts? ;D
Well, I don’t like to publicize it, but oddly enough, when I do acknowledge their existence, things around the house don’t seem to fly as much.

This is definitely a hoax as are 99.999% of all “ghost” videos, especially the shows on TV. There’s probably holes in the metal between both sides of the shelf separator. Someone on the other side pushed the stack of DVD’s outward with a pencil or something…hahaha:)

Ha! That is great. I love how the guy just keeps doing his work till there at the end, and then he takes off. hehe. Not sure if it’s a hoax or not. You’d think they could have come up with something better and more exciting if it were a hoax. Either way, it’s interesting!

Definitely a hoax. There is one shot in there where you can see a video being moved like they stopped the tape and started over.Scared the crap out of me the first time I saw it though.
I agree with Mark and Meandmydrum. There was a shift in lighting. I liked the video though. I don’t like scary things esp. when it involves children. I have to say that I don’t believe in ghosts, but don’t mind someone trying to convince me otherwise:)
