Take a tour of my town!
To say I’m totally happy right now would be a huge understatement. Earlier today I was searching about for more tutorials and tips for the Canon HV20 camera. I stumbled upon this fantastic article by Barry Green teaching how to control and lock the exposure of the camera. By doing so it helps to reduce and quite possibly completely get rid of the grainy look to your footage. I gave it a shot and to my delight the results were fantastic! Needless to say Jonathan and I were giddy and had to go out and shoot some test footage. We decided to motor around town, so I could just film stuff randomly. In all I shot about ten minutes of footage and managed to cut it all down to just under three minutes in order to put together this nice little short film. I call it “Passing Through”.
By the way, for anyone who may be interested, I edited the footage in Vegas using only color curves and HSL adjustments. I also applied a slight vignette to the corners using a PSD file from Photoshop.

Nicely done. I like that kind of weather, although according to the shoveled snow on the ground, probably a bit too cold for me. :) Love the architecture on some of those buildings.
Oooo…cemetery. Methinks it would make for a good backdrop in your series. Muahahaha…
Dude! When are YOU going to get in front of the camera?

Great video Mike. You are really jumping into this with both feet.
You should watch this video…it really blew my mind that it only took 3 people to do something like this…

@Bobby: Thanks, buddy! I’m sure your towns are a bit warmer than mine right now though ;)
@Mark: It’s definitely great weather for filming. Fall looks really nice here as well with all the leaves changing colors. It’s indeed a bit cold though ;P
@Bucky: Thanks, bud :) That video is great. It shows what you can do with a bit of a budget and a ton of imagination :)
Thanks for the tour! Really enjoyed the video and the music (again). I’ve always kind of wanted to do that, well of my commute, but I can’t do that while I’m driving and nobody is with me and with my N95! LOL. Loved the end too when you shot the sky and the trees took up like half of the screen, beautiful!
Awesome video Mikey. Can’t wait to see what you do when you put together a “real” project!
