I’ve seen enough cardboard for three lifetimes
Sep 4, 2007 Blogging, Personal
Today I’m working my way through a closet absolutely full of cardboard boxes that I insanely keep around for ages. Every time I buy a new gadget I seem to think I need to toss the box into the closet and save it for those “just in case” moments rather than just get rid of it. “What if I decide to send something to someone and need a box to put it in? I know! I’ll just save each and every box that ends up in my possession.”
Today I’ve decided that practice needs to stop and so I’ve begun the lengthy process of digging out all the boxes I no longer need, tearing them apart and bagging them. Then I’ll toss them all out in the trash. Good riddance, I say. I feel sorry for the poor trash guy that has to collect them all. Better him than me though.
Am I only the one that does this? Perhaps I need to seek counseling for my box saving obsession. Ahh well, there’s no time for that now. Break time is over. I need to go dive back into the closet and finish this mission.

I used to have a lot, but then the wife and I started selling stuff on ebay, and the boxes got used fairly quick. Now, we have trouble finding boxes when we sell something…lol.

I toss the empty boxes into the garage, and then every couple of weeks or so, I use my handy dandy box cutter to break them down into flat pieces. Then I haul them off to the recycle center.
Shame on your for not recycling!
Good luck getting the closet in order!

I feel your pain, Mike. I’ll usually save small boxes for gadgets just a week or two until I’m sure they work. But for larger items (especially new computers or other appliances), I’ll toss the huge boxes in the corner of the garage where they’ll sit until I can’t stands it no more.

@Krilz: I’m the same way. I move boxes from one place to another…lol.
@Bucky: Wanna buy some boxes to ship your ebay stuff in? hehe. The best part is I definitely would have enough boxes to ship those boxes in
@Tish: Why don’t you come on over with your handy dandy box cutter and we’ll cut boxes together. It’ll be so romantic :D
@Andrew: I think initially that was my plan. Save them for a couple weeks, make sure everything works and then toss them out. Unfortunately weeks seemed to have turned into months and months into years :P
@Mel: Like Krillz said, feel free to add your link to my handy little FREE directory :) The link is over there on the left. It’s nice and simple!

LOL, I know EXACTLY what you mean. But eventually all my boxes get used for something. Hmmm, then maybe that means I have too much junk! :P
Shine on,

yes, I save boxes too, just in case…my husband throws them away. usually, just after he does, I am looking for one and don’t have any more, so I haven’t been weaned from continuing to save them yet…
