If you’re having trouble accessing Entrecard, I apologize

If you’re one of the seemingly zillions of Entrecard enthusiasts, there’s a good chance you’ve probably noticed the site appears to be all but dead at the moment. I must confess, I think I broke it. About a half hour ago I submitted my latest site, HaloVidz to Entrecard and the flood of ad placement requests kicked in almost immediately.

Minutes later I received the following error message:

Entrecard application server failed

The server that does the hard work hasn’t responded in time. This means we’re either working on it, or it is overloaded with requests. In either case, we sincerely apologize. Please try again in 10 minutes.

Please don’t be mad. In my furious attempt to thwart off one ad request after another from SEO “gurus”, real estate, makey money online and travel bloggers, I think I managed to single handedly overload the Entrecard system. Seriously, everyone and their grandmother is looking for cheap 2 credit advertising regardless of whether their blog is even remotely related to video gaming.

What’s most irritating is that it seems 90% of the people who attempt to advertise cheaply on a new blog don’t even bother to visit the site first. Out of all the ad requests I was able to see before Entrecard went belly up, only a few actually visited my blog first and dropped their card. Even then the folks with drastically unrelated sites still attempted to get in on some cheap advertising. It was a valiant effort I suppose.

Hehe, well done Mike! ;) When I registered another site of mine there, I got over 40 advertising requests in just a few minutes. I had a hard time picking out the ones that related to my blog ;)

LOL…yep that’s exactly what happened with me. Out of all of them there were maybe a handful that were at least remotely relevant to my site ;P

I wish they’d make some changes that would force people to have to visit a site first before trying to advertise on it.

Good job Mike. I still can’t login to entrecard. I guess that hard working server took a much needed weekend off.

@Bucky: LOL, sorry buddy! I’ll see what I can do to fix it ;P

@Tessa: Haha…well on this blog I’ll approve just about everything because I really have no niche here, but my new site has such a specific niche to it. I just didn’t feel like all the make money bloggers were even remotely relevant to what it’s all about :P

Is it possible to receive 40 advertising request at the same time? I don’t think that’s possible as there’s a limit to the number of request and I’m quite certain it doesn’t go that far. :)
