I am in love with Illustrator CS3.
The last couple days in between trying to sleep off a headache and sneezing I’ve been digging into the newest version of Adobe Illustrator. In a word CS3 ROCKS. Finally after so many years Adobe decided it would be a good idea to give you an eraser tool. An eraser tool? Oh yes. Man, I nearly wept tears of joy. If you happen to be like me and you use Illustrator to draw cartoons, you’ll know why I’m so happy.
If all they did was add an eraser I’d be thrilled, but they didn’t stop there. The interface is vastly improved. Thanks to the new docking palettes everything feels so much more organized. I use a widescreen monitor and even with that extra bit of screen real estate it would still tend to get pretty cluttered in earlier CS versions. Not anymore!
There’s plenty more improvements as well that I’m just too tired to mention. I think it’s safe to say though that the CS3 version of Illustrator is going to go a long way in helping users be much more productive. I’m using it on the upcoming Gummy comic and it’s already limiting the number of headaches I’d get with the previous version. When you get headaches as much as I do, that’s a blessing.
By the way, speaking of the upcoming Gummy comic, I’m about 50% done with it. I feel like I’m so slow in getting these things done, but it’s not easy when you suffer from so many ridiculous sinus and allergy headaches :(
