Incredible storm photograph
Jun 17, 2008 Random
As I tend to do often times late at night, I was checking out various weather and storm related websites and happened upon this amazing photo which was taken by a woman named Lori Mehmen of Orchard, Iowa. This was the view from her front yard at just after 9pm on June 10, 2008.

Apparently it’s not a tornado. Amazing, isn’t it?

That’s an awesome picture, I’d hate to be standing near that monster! I would’ve had some great hurricane Katrina footage and pics if I hadn’t been so busy repairing the house as it was bursting apart at the seams. Luckily, I was smart enough to have nails, tools and extra plywood sheets inside my house…I used all of it!

A cloud that large that’s touching the ground can only mean one thing: invasion!
I’d be hoofing out of Iowa once I laid eyes on what appears to be a cloud, but you and I know it to be a complicated illusion designed to hide an elevator shaft that’s sending down pod-people.
I won’t be sleeping well tonight. Thanks a lot, “buddy”. :)

@Maria: Hi Maria! Seems I haven’t heard from you in ages ;P Yes, it is a bit scary looking, but it’s also pretty darn awesome :D
@Liz: Agreed, very impressive. Mother nature is capable of some pretty incredible things :)
@Bobby: I’d say that’s a pretty legitimate excuse for not having any Katrina photos. Glad ya managed to keep everything together :)
@Malin: Only a little bit ;)
@Mark: I think perhaps you’ve discovered the secret of how aliens travel to and eventually arrive on our planet :-o
@Aaron: It is indeed :D
@Trisna: Apparently it wasn’t. Hard to believe, isn’t it? I’d love to explain to you exactly what’s occurring, but for the life of me I cannot remember the explanation I read for it :(

Okay Trisna, I just did a little bit more research and apparently what most are considering this to be is a funnel cloud. Funnel clouds actually don’t become tornados til they touch the ground, which from reports this one apparently did not, even though it appears to be touching ground.
It could also be what’s considered a wall cloud. A very massive wall cloud.

hahahahaha… you already had long article posted and can’t remembered the explanation… :lol:
