My newest project - I must be insane
Nov 12, 2007 Announcements, Blogging
Recently I decided three blogs just wasn’t enough. Oh no, I’ve decided to launch a fourth one. This time the focus will be on something I love very much - Independent films. The name of the site is IndieBlurb and the goal is to not only present news and resources related to independent films, but also to eventually (hopefully) feature interviews with those involved in the industry. My cousin Jonathan and I are doing this site together. He’s the same guy I wrote a screenplay with and he also has a huge love for indie films. Occasionally we’ll also write about films that are more in the mainstream, but for the most part we’ll be sticking to the indie flicks.

Several years ago I operated a site named Ventana which focused on indie and lesser known musicians. We featured and interviewed several bands that are now pretty well known, for example Lacuna Coil, a pretty popular Gothic Rock band from Italy. In just a few short months the traffic on that site was quite good - well over 150,000 visitors a month. I’m hoping to follow a similar path as I did with that site to find success with this new project. We’ll see how it goes =)
If anyone would like to give a little blogroll or link love I’d hugely appreciate it :D

Sorry it’s me again, lol. The site looks wicked! Really nice. You might want to try an image ad on it, they work great because they catch the eye. Very cool new site:)

Very nice, and a nice little niche to boot!
Great work!

@Christy: I hope it will be ;D At the very least it’s something I enjoy, so I should have some fun with it :)
I haven’t really decided which ads and affiliates I want to run on there yet. In the meantime I just stuck adsense in there ;P
@Baron: Indeed it is ;D That Mimbo theme really rocks once ya figure out how it all works!

Oh, good for you! :: round of applause ::
I just started my third blog too (actually one is a shared project, but I do admin it) and a fourth is in the works. We can be crazy in parallel. ;)
One of my favorite Indie flicks is an Indian-made skit on Silicon Valley life “Bugaboo”.

Awesome job, buddy! I gotta get into my other blog that’s going to use this theme. It looks so good!

@Linda: Hehe…the whole blogging thing sure is addicting isn’t it? ;P I have ideas for other blogs but I think this is enough for now…lol.
@Mark: Thank you, sir :D That theme really does look great, doesn’t it? Why spend 100 bucks on a “premium” theme when there’s ones like Mimbo that look just as good? ;P

I remember when ya’ll interviewed Lucuna Coil! I also remember never hearing of them before that, and now I hear about them quite frequently!!

Wow. Lacuna Coil? I’M JEALOUS!!
November 13th, 2007 at 6:42 pm
@Mandy: That was quite a long time ago, wasn’t it? I’m surprised you remember that ;P
@Jenny: Hehe…Cristina Scabbia and Andreas are really nice :)
I still have all the files backed up from that old site *somewhere*. It would be neat to go back and pull them all out now.

Congrats Mike! And GL with the new site, I think it has a really good look with it and I bet it’s really going to rock with a little time under its belt!

Addicting, but also evolving…I started Raven’s Roads as the website of a road trip that never got off the ground, and it evolved into a biker zine, then a blog, then a biking and travel blog, then I exploded into the blogosphere at the Blogathon and it became an everything blog, and I missed my biker stuff and started RVing, so I thought I’d begin an Rv blog too, and a biker blog, and maybe massage the original one back round to travels and living an interesting life. ;)
Whew! So blogs sprout off in the niches where you want to write extra posts without annoying all your regular readers…
I can account for three of your blogs (this one, Blogsweluv and the new indie one. What’s the fourth?)

It was forever and a day ago! I *think* I was in FL with my mom. That was 6 years ago.

@Linda: The fourth would be my web comic :)
@Mandy: Wow, I think you may be right. Time flies :-o

I love indie films myself, and I think this is a good idea. I don’t think you’re insane, you’re just blogging about what you love, and i think that’s great! good luck with the new site! :)
