My buddies from MeAndMyDrum and Brown Thoughts and myself have put together a simple idea for a new movement in blogging. If you’re a blog author who believes that it’s important to be active within your own blog community which you’ve created and reply to as many comments as possible, our new iReply movement is for you. Display our little button and let your readers know that you appreciate what they have to say and won’t just ignore them.
Simply save our button up there on the left, upload it to your server and either link to this post or create a new post of your own talking about the movement and why you support it. Easy enough, right?
If you’d like a version of the button that will work on darker backgrounds you can use this one instead.
UPDATE: If you’re unsure how to add this badge to your blog, the simplest way is to either upload it to the server where your blog is hosted, or to your favorite image hosting site (like photobucket), then do something like this:
<img src=”http://yourURL.com/ireply_litebg.gif”>
That’s it!
A domain is a name given to a web site the way a filmmaker or a director or screenwriter gives a name to a movie. Some wireless internet providers provide domains with cheap web hosting. The web hosting services can range from $3-$30 per month. Most of these cheap web hosting companies can be found through your ISP’s. When thinking about hosting a site, illustrations about cameras or a canon hv 20 should be enlarged for better publicity. Agree to a high cpc to a website owner so that they continue to improve their site for attraction purposes.

I like it better every time I see it.
Haha…not bad for a few minutes of work I must say
Great idea, really. Do you mind if I change the little dot on the i from red to pink?
I think this is a good idea because it is more rewarding to read blogs that you know are not just in it for themselves, and that they are also looking to partake in something greater than themselves (and their blog).
Certainly Danielle…go for it
I was hoping you’d join our little movement
Great, being matchy-matchy is important to me!
Not only am I going to join, I am going to promote this idea. While I really like the U Comment - I Follow movement - your new movement seems a little bit more “about blogging” and less about SEO. And while I am a big fan of SEO and all forms of search engine marketing, the You Comment - I Reply movement is much more “in the spirit of blogging”.
Total Props!
I’ve seen this on Me and My Drum and Brown Thoughts already.
And I like the idea.
@Danielle: Exactly. The whole SEO thing is nice and all but at the end of day I’m not checking my google stats, I’m replying to comments and hoping I picked up a few new readers
@Grace: Hi Grace
Yeh it was a product of a VERY quick brainstorming session between myself, Mark and the Baron
I hope it will catch on with more folks!
@Danielle: “matchy-matchy”. Is that a technical term? LOL Thanks for promoting the concept!
@Grace: I know I speak for all of us when I say that we do appreciate you stopping by our blogs!
@Mike: you’re a whiz with pixels! Thanks again for creating this logo, buddy!
And to think, this all started with a little joke on Mark’s blog hehehe.
Nice idea
Ummm, i reply, right? Well I don’t reply on my blog… but on the person’s blog… should I reply on my blog? Ahhh! *confused*
It’s too late, I need sleep
Great idea though
Geez now I’m confused too haha
Hahaha…it means you reply on YOUR blog, Maria
Oh wow Mike, what a great idea! I personally would be more likely to leave a comment on someone’s blog if I saw this badge and also go back to see their response because you know it would be there for sure. Incredible, I’m snagging one for my blogs.
I’m working on some blogger awards right now, wish me luck, God only knows what color they’ll be, lol.
I like this! Great idea!!!!!
@Christy: You always crack me up. Good luck with the colors…hehe. Send it my way if you’d like a little help
@Jodi: So that means you’re in?
i’m in ^_^ great idea
Welcome aboard
hi mike!!!!! i just found out about this movement on Barons blog!!! this is a fantastic idea!!!!! u know i always reply to every little comment!! so my question now is u hv a dark/brighter background version what about a pinky version on the badge!!! hehehe:D
Gimme a few and I’ll see what I can come up with
hey mike!! i would appreciate but anyway i like the black version!! its on my blog already!! ill try to write a post about this movement this week…
if u can get a pink version that would be absolutely fabulous!! thanks!!!!!
Check out my latest post
Oh I’ve always wondered what it meant “You comment, I reply.” How dorky of me to not realize from the get-go that it’s as simple as that: someone comments, you reply. Haha. DUH. I wish I can join this movement, but I’m afraid I would fail miserably because I don’t have a lot of time. Maybe after the wedding and if I ever get less hours at work?
Hehe…you’re excused from the movement, Helen
I can imagine how busy you are right now preparing for the big day
I’m doing the best to be party of the movement Mike. I first saw this on Brown’s blog, but glad to see you’re a part of it as well. May not quite as big or as important as the “I follow” movment, but it’s still important, none the less.
I think it’s pretty darn important…for me at least. The nofollow is indeed big, but for me the number one thing is communication and interaction on blogs. I’m really not concerned about nofollow on the blogs I read. I comment on them because I enjoy reading them, not because I hope I can get another backlink
That being said I do have nofollow applied here and of course always will.
That is an awesome idea.
I shall join!!
Welcome aboard, Jenny
Thanks for this! I joined!
Great to hear, Johann!
Look at all these good people! It’s great to see the response from the community.
Yess, *most* people actually get what we were trying to do
Hi,
I dont know why you allow so many people to allow them to download the pic from your server.
Cant they not upload it??
Is this a small secret to some traffic ??
They can’t upload a picture from their server until they download it from somewhere, no?
There’s no traffic involved. It’s about saving bandwidth.
Responding to comments and getting responses to mine are one of the things that I love so much about blogging. The interaction is what got me interested in it in the first place.
Same here, Richard
It’s what really brings a blog to life and keeps it interesting =)
I’m IN
Yay! The more the merrier
What a fabulous idea, the button is up!
Hey, I wrote a post, and added your button! Go iReply Movement! I found your button at Writers Reviews!
Ann
A Nice Place In The Sun
Hi Mike
I’ve added your button on my site. Keep up the great work.
Woohoo! Thanks for supporting our little movement
Hey Mike, got another one over at Blog About Your Blog. The latest supporter was from Holland!
Nice
One of these days we’ll have to gather up a list of all the supporters and see just how far reaching our little idea was
I like this idea! Do you have the code already prepared for it to install? Mahalo!
Im in ^^
*cheers*
I, for one, would like to figure out how to entice more readers to leave comments! Do you think your little logo is effective? Check out some other bloggers comment stats on this post:
dave-lucas.blogspot.com/2007/07/better-blogging-4.html
Y’know, I’ve been doing this lil thing since I started my blog over 2 years ago and I’m just NOW finding out it’s a MOVEMENT??!! Excellent badge! Now I’m an official movement “member”!
LOL!
Hey I think this is a great idea - kind of like take a penny, leave a penny. I am in!
I got here from Lil Bit’s abode and what a grand idea this is! I always try to reply within my comments but the badge is a great way to show it! I’ve added it and made a post and I hope that a few of my blog family will join in as well! Thank you Mike ♥
You know, this is cool to see people continuing to join this thing.
I know, it’s amazing isn’t it, buddy?
Welcome aboard to all the new people! ;D
looks like this is a wonderful idea… good job!
I have been doing the movement before I even saw this! Nice idea.
thank you for this. I’ll be joining the movement as well.
Welcome aboard to all the newest club members ;D
Count me in
I hope you don’t mind, I made one to match my site.. you can have it too to add here if you’d like and if anyone would like a custom one I’d be happy to try
http://i43.photobucket.com/alb.....ireply.gif
Oh, thats transparent and its on a dark background by the way
you can see it on my site on the upper left sidebar.
Hi Jeannie! There’s certainly nothing at all wrong with creating your own
I think that this is an excellent idea. I too have joined the movement.
Just a thought. Why don’t you start an opt-in blogroll (using a service like, say, blogrolling) for members of i-reply?
OK, so it adds another administrative adventure to your daily chores, but it’s not that hard to do
It’s an excellent idea! I’m in
Oh and also, if you don’t have the time, I could organize it. Let me know
@Linda: That’s not a bad idea. However the one thing that bugs me about those blogroll thingies is that they list sooo many links at a time. I’m not a huge fan of displaying really long blogrolls in my sidebar =/
The other option would be putting the blogroll on a separate page I suppose. I wonder how much in the way of CSS styling you can do with them? If I remember right that blogrolling site allows you to use CSS but if you have more than one blogroll you’re using with them it effects every one instead of letting you style them separately =/
Mike: I’ve gotten round that by using an icon to link to page/s with blogrolls. I have exactly the same problem you do with the long, long lists. (They are also slow-loading.)
You can also get some devices/bits of code which displays them in a drop-down list.
Take a look at the bottom of ravensroads.com to see what I mean. (I actually dislike that big glob of “shiny” at the bottom, but nor am I quite ready to give up on my shinies yet.)
I haven’t bothered with styling or delved too deep into it; there may be other options than blogrolling, but I don’t know.
I’m in with great pleasure… there is nothing more annoying than a comment left without recognition…
LOL…I couldn’t agree more
Welcome aboard!
Excellent idea. I will support this campaign!!!
Excellent idea. Have seen this badge around the blogosphere.
Will support the campaign..thanks mike
Cheers
Have a nice day
okay, i’ve posted on my blog about it so that means i’ve joined the movement right? so what’s next? other than me replying back to commenters, i mean. what i really want is that “Notify me of followup comments via e-mail” thingie.
how do i get that??
TIA!
Ok I got the badge in the comments area of my blog and Bob’s but the link is not working ugh. I think I have it coded right, but it’s not ‘clicking’ Argh!!!!!!!!!!!!
@Polli: Well there you are!!
Did you get my emails from weeks ago? I can’t say for sure about the problem you’re experiencing with the link, but may I recommend that you remove the onlick/tracker stuff to see if at least it works in its basic form?
I hope you’re doing well.
I’m joining with an effort to improve in the reply department on my blog
Wow, 118 comments….will I really get a reply? I hope you didn’t get in over your head on this!
Seriously, this is such a great idea. So many times I comment on blogs and feel like it just goes into the black hole - and I don’t want my readers to feel like that!
Thanks for this idea ~ it will be on my next blog post!
Peace and blessings~
Suzanne
@Lecram: Welcome aboard!
@Suzanne: If you ask nicely you might just receive a reply
I hear ya about the black hole. Unfortunately there’s a lot of them out there :/
I definitely like the idea. I’ll be sporting one of the iReply buttons on my page here soon. Great idea.
Hi there! Glad you liked the idea. Thanks for helping support our little cause
This is a fab idea! I’m going to place this buttons on my site right now! Thanks for this!
Oh my. 125 comments! Actually, now it’s 126!
I first saw this icon at Brown Thoughts and it’s such a terrific idea!
I try to reply to comments bloggers leave me too. thanks for this post and the image. I made a little post about it here
Great idea!
Well this is interesting and sounds productive. Also referring two of my pals to this page.
Keep the ideas coming Mike
just might have to add this to my site
thx
I like this idea! I have always believed in being an active participant in my blog and the blogs of my readers. I’d like to make the same change as Danielle though. I hope you don’t mind if I make the red dot a green one.
Great idea! I’ll link my graphic back to this post!
You wouldn’t believe how many people don’t like the idea. Don’t get me started on that one though ;P
LOL
I don’t understand why anyone would dislike this movement. It appears to be a great way to honor your fellow bloggers.
I think this is a great Idea. I have Always responded to all of my comments I love keeping in contact with my reader base.
Your button is on my blog now. I’m glad to be a part of the movement =)
@Erina: We don’t understand it either
@Shibari: Then you’ve been a member all along
@Erina (again): Woohoo! Now you’re one of the cool kids
great idea, i have your logo in my blog now
High five, Mike!

I am putting the logo on my blog now with a link back to this post at
http://poeartica.blogspot.com/
I’ve just found this on Lakeside’s blog and I’ll be putting it on my blog with a link-back
I’ve added this to my blog as well… I think it’s a great way to help build the community! I’ve added a link back to this post at:
http://www.fitzbiz.org
Keep up the great work!
Does the movement have a blog roll or a list complied so we can visit other fellow “i reply” participants? I can make one!!
What a great movement. It really bothers me when people fail to return comments. I’m so in!
hi mike… i wish to add this onto my blog. somehow, i wonder how to add it on? sorry as i’m really an IT idiot…
mike, i have a Dofollow blog and like ur philosophy, a blogger should actively participate in the blogging process. i do that most of the time and i think it’s working.
