Join the iReply movement!

iReplyMy buddies from MeAndMyDrum and Brown Thoughts and myself have put together a simple idea for a new movement in blogging. If you’re a blog author who believes that it’s important to be active within your own blog community which you’ve created and reply to as many comments as possible, our new iReply movement is for you. Display our little button and let your readers know that you appreciate what they have to say and won’t just ignore them.

Simply save our button up there on the left, upload it to your server and either link to this post or create a new post of your own talking about the movement and why you support it. Easy enough, right?

If you’d like a version of the button that will work on darker backgrounds you can use this one instead.

UPDATE: If you’re unsure how to add this badge to your blog, the simplest way is to either upload it to the server where your blog is hosted, or to your favorite image hosting site (like photobucket), then do something like this:

<img src=”http://yourURL.com/ireply_litebg.gif”>

That’s it! :)

A domain is a name given to a web site the way a filmmaker or a director or screenwriter gives a name to a movie. Some wireless internet providers provide domains with cheap web hosting. The web hosting services can range from $3-$30 per month. Most of these cheap web hosting companies can be found through your ISP’s. When thinking about hosting a site, illustrations about cameras or a canon hv 20 should be enlarged for better publicity. Agree to a high cpc to a website owner so that they continue to improve their site for attraction purposes.

Great idea, really. Do you mind if I change the little dot on the i from red to pink?

I think this is a good idea because it is more rewarding to read blogs that you know are not just in it for themselves, and that they are also looking to partake in something greater than themselves (and their blog).

  32. Mike Says:

    Certainly Danielle…go for it :D

I was hoping you’d join our little movement :)

  33. Danielle (33 comments.) Says:

Great, being matchy-matchy is important to me!

Not only am I going to join, I am going to promote this idea. While I really like the U Comment – I Follow movement – your new movement seems a little bit more “about blogging” and less about SEO. And while I am a big fan of SEO and all forms of search engine marketing, the You Comment – I Reply movement is much more “in the spirit of blogging”.

    Total Props!

  34. Grace (29 comments.) Says:

I’ve seen this on Me and My Drum and Brown Thoughts already. :) And I like the idea.

  35. Mike Says:

@Danielle: Exactly. The whole SEO thing is nice and all but at the end of day I’m not checking my google stats, I’m replying to comments and hoping I picked up a few new readers :)

  36. Mike Says:

@Grace: Hi Grace :) Yeh it was a product of a VERY quick brainstorming session between myself, Mark and the Baron :D I hope it will catch on with more folks!

  37. Mark (138 comments.) Says:

@Danielle: “matchy-matchy”. Is that a technical term? LOL Thanks for promoting the concept!

I’m doing the best to be party of the movement Mike. I first saw this on Brown’s blog, but glad to see you’re a part of it as well. May not quite as big or as important as the “I follow” movment, but it’s still important, none the less.

  57. Mike Says:

I think it’s pretty darn important…for me at least. The nofollow is indeed big, but for me the number one thing is communication and interaction on blogs. I’m really not concerned about nofollow on the blogs I read. I comment on them because I enjoy reading them, not because I hope I can get another backlink :) That being said I do have nofollow applied here and of course always will.

  108. Mike Says:

@Linda: That’s not a bad idea. However the one thing that bugs me about those blogroll thingies is that they list sooo many links at a time. I’m not a huge fan of displaying really long blogrolls in my sidebar =/

The other option would be putting the blogroll on a separate page I suppose. I wonder how much in the way of CSS styling you can do with them? If I remember right that blogrolling site allows you to use CSS but if you have more than one blogroll you’re using with them it effects every one instead of letting you style them separately =/

  109. Linda (9 comments.) Says:

Mike: I’ve gotten round that by using an icon to link to page/s with blogrolls. I have exactly the same problem you do with the long, long lists. (They are also slow-loading.)

You can also get some devices/bits of code which displays them in a drop-down list.

Take a look at the bottom of ravensroads.com to see what I mean. (I actually dislike that big glob of “shiny” at the bottom, but nor am I quite ready to give up on my shinies yet.) ;-)

I haven’t bothered with styling or delved too deep into it; there may be other options than blogrolling, but I don’t know.
