Do you recognize this person?

A new little portrait I just finished up. I played around with some different ideas this time. Her hair had sort of a wild look in the original photo so I went a little crazy with it…lol. I’m not sure I’m 100% happy with this yet, but the person in the photo seems to be, so that works for me :)

It’s me!! Thank you, thank you, thank you, Mike!! I have been sitting here staring at this portrait ever since you sent it to me! It’s absolutely beautiful!

I’m absolutely thrilled. This is the nicest thing anyone has done for me. :)

    Mwah!

That’s Tish! Tish is a hot cartoon babe! (well she is very beautiful in real life too) Well done Mike! You did a wonderful job.

  3. Mike 29 August 2007 at 9:06 pm Permalink

@Tish: So you’re saying you like it? :P

@Danielle: Thank you! :) I agree…well not necessarily about the wonderful part. I don’t have an ego..hehe…but the other stuff ;D

    Mike – I love it!

Danielle – Thanks for the nice compliment. :) And you too, Mike! ;)

What a great likeness of my best human blogging buddy! Amazing talent you have there Mike! Can you say ‘jealous’?

    Woof, Johann

  6. Danielle 29 August 2007 at 9:50 pm Permalink

Don’t sell yourself short Mike. You are wonderfully talented. Tish and Johann both agree with me.

  7. Red 29 August 2007 at 10:30 pm Permalink

    That is awesome!
Did you do that with Illustrator?
I start my class on Illustrator with Vector Graphics on the 6th. I’m even more excited about it after seeing what you have created.

  8. Mike 29 August 2007 at 10:55 pm Permalink

@Danielle: Well shucks. Thank you

@Red: Thank you :) Yep I created it in Illustrator CS3. I still really don’t have a handle on the program the way I’d like, but I’m getting there =)

That’s totally Tish! It’s beautiful!!! How much do I gotta pay ya to do one of me?! That’s awesome. :D Makes me want to get back into vector soon. :)

  13. Wm H 30 August 2007 at 1:17 am Permalink

Without a doubt, this is Tish. Mike you’ve done an excellent job of capturing her.

  14. Mike 30 August 2007 at 5:58 am Permalink

    @Mark: Thanks, bud! I try..hehe :P

@Helen: One meeeeelllllion dollars :D You should definitely get back into doing vector. I love the stuff you have up on your Mind Mirror site :)

    @Wm H: Thank you very much :)

  15. Bucky 30 August 2007 at 6:19 am Permalink

I knew who it was as soon as I saw her. :)

    Great job Mike!

The portrait is just as stunning as the real Tish! ;)

  16. Christy 30 August 2007 at 7:37 am Permalink

Holy Toledo!! Super sexy Tish! It’s not only how well you can draw the image Mike, it’s how well you capture the spirit of the person within the image.

How long does it take you to do one? If you ever consider doing them to make extra money let me know, because I would be the first one to sign up to have my kids done. (Then you’ll be an A-List blogger making lots of money).

That is totally insanely talented. :)

  17. Mike 30 August 2007 at 8:12 am Permalink

@Bucky: Thanks, buddy! I don’t know if a drawing can ever compare to the real Tish though..hehe :D

@Christy: Thank you! :) This drawing took me roughly a week to complete. I can’t do them all in one sitting so I have to just save everything and come back to it later. It can take anywhere from 4 to 20 hours in total to complete one. This particular drawing was probably closer to 20 than 4…hehe.

I’ve thought about offering portraits as a way to make a little extra money but I didn’t really think anyone would ultimately want to pay what I’d probably have to charge for it :P

  18. Tish 30 August 2007 at 8:15 am Permalink

Thank you all so much for your kind comments. :)

And Mike, I’m blushing from all the sweet things you’ve said about me. Doing a portrait and saying all those nice things…I’m going to have to snag you before some other girl beats me to it! Thank you for everything. You’re the best!

  19. Mark 30 August 2007 at 8:22 am Permalink

@Mike: “One meeeeelllllion dollars”. You said that with your pinky in the corner of your mouth I hope. ;)

@Everyone: is it me or do you also hear wedding bells? LOL

  20. Mike 30 August 2007 at 8:31 am Permalink

@Tish: Can everyone at the office see you blushing? :D hehe

@Mark: I fixed your comment so it doesn’t look like you were talking to yourself…lol. And yes of course I did the pinky thing :D

Regarding your final comment. You just love to stir up trouble, don’t you? ;)

  21. Bush Mackel 30 August 2007 at 8:33 am Permalink

Spot on job! Nose and eyes turned out beautifully.

  22. Bush Mackel 30 August 2007 at 8:34 am Permalink

BTW, what’d you do this in?

  23. Christy 30 August 2007 at 8:49 am Permalink

Mark: I do believe I hear the bells too, lol.

Mike: Roughly how much would you charge for one drawing, or per hour? These would make amazing gifts! (Sorry my business brain won’t shut up). I bet you that people would pay big, you just have to target the right people.

  24. Mike 30 August 2007 at 8:59 am Permalink

@Bush: Thanks, Buddy! I use Illustrator for pretty much everything and this was no exception. CS3. Have you used it yet? The enhancements to the interface are freakin’ awesome :D

BTW, did you get my e-mail? I sure hope I sent it to the right person…lol.

@Christy: Wellll, I usually like to charge around $40 per hour for non-friends when I don’t do something for a flat rate, but I could cut that in half for friends..hehe :)

BTW, in case you’re wondering, usually what determines how long a portrait will take for me is the hair. Straight hair is simple. Anything a little more wild and that takes quite a bit more time :)

  25. Christy 30 August 2007 at 9:27 am Permalink

I hope I fall into the friend category…. I’m going to email you about this. I would love to get one done for my daughter (who has wavy red hair, lol) It would be the ultimate grade eight graduation gift!

  26. Mike 30 August 2007 at 9:38 am Permalink

Hehe, yes you’re most certainly in the friend category..hehe :P

  31. Mike 31 August 2007 at 6:31 am Permalink

@Hernan: Thanks! I’m getting the hang of this vector thing ;)

@Judy: By all accounts I should be a millionaire. I mean that bloglebrity thing tells me I’m an A-lister and everything. Alas I am not :( Oh and Thank you :D hehe
