Trent Reznor releases his Ghosts

There’s no denying that Trent Reznor, the brainchild of Nine In Nails is a wizard. Whether you love or hate or his music, I think you have to respect his creative genius. You may be hard pressed to find anyone whose level of originality matches that of Reznor. With his latest release, Ghosts, he of course does not disappoint. At nearly two hours in length, Ghosts is a breathtaking, aural masterpiece. If you’re a fan of ambient music, you have to hear this stuff.

At the very least I recommend purchasing the $5 downloadable version of Ghosts. That’s right, FIVE bucks. You receive 36 high quality DRM-Free mp3s and and a PDF e-book full of some pretty amazing photos. The one below is probably my favorite of the bunch.

Seriously, go get it! It’s amazing.

It’s worth while. I would even spend more on it…had I been richer.

It’s definitely worth more than five bucks. That’s robbery for 36 tracks. Trent has always felt that music and CDs are much too expensive though.

@Malin: Yes, FIVE bucks..lol. He dumped his record label because of the high prices of music. It’s weird that he did it all instrumental, but it will be cool to hear the remixes people will eventually create and likely add their own words to.

@Paula: Whee :D I think it requires listening to all at once to really take it all in, but it’s worth it. It nearly put me to sleep because there are parts that are so serene and relaxing :P

Trent Reznor also understands the web. When you have real talent and can orchestrate musical landscapes…the money is merely a byproduct of greatness. He wants people to hear his music, not think about hearing it.

He’s more than just an instrumentalist or vocalist…he’s a composer and can do it all. I can’t wait to hear it. Thanks Mike!

And a lot a money he has made so far from it ;) He knew exactly what he was doing when he dumped his record company. As popular as he is, he doesn’t need them. The guy sold $750,000 worth of limited edition boxed sets of Ghosts in THREE days. They were 300 bucks a pop. He could have sold them for twice that price and still sold every one of them :P

Great stuff. I downloaded the free sampler and am going back for the full $5 download. Heck, I would spend more than that on a used CD. I have most all of Reznor’s stuff, but I like this style the best. Talented man in every way.
