Unexpect

unexpect.jpgEvery once in a while I stumble upon a band that really floors me. I found another in Unexpect. I guess it shouldn’t be so surprising that they hail from Montreal, Quebec. Canada (Montreal especially) is loaded with some serious musical talent and these folks are no exception. I could sit here and try to explain what they sound like but I think it would be easier to include a quote from their bio.

“unexpecT is a metal laboratory mixing elements of black, death, (*)core, symphonic, progressive and melodic metal; classical, operatic, medieval, goth, electro, ambient, psychotic, noise and circus music with an occasional jazzy touch.”

That about sums it up. If you’re in the mood for something really unique, you NEED to hear this band.

More Obsidian goodies…

If you haven’t checked out Obsidian yet, what the hell is wrong with you? If you have then you’d probably like to hear more. There’s some very cool demos from 2004 (as well as other stuff) to be heard here on their drummer’s website:

Oh yes.

DisillusionI’ve just read that Disillusion finished recording their new album entitled “Gloria” and it will be released in October. One of the most impressive cds I’ve ever heard was their last one “Back to the Times of Splendor”. I can’t wait to hear what they do next.

Here’s a blurb from their website about the new CD:

“The end result is eleven unusual songs full of self-confidence. Heavy, grooving, cheerful, martial, demanding and danceable, all at the same time. Despite the morbid cynicism resulting from the clearly modern sound of the new tracks, the euphoric and human components of DISILLUSION are still omnipresent.”

That all sounds pretty darn promising to me. Woohoo.
