Playing with the Spore Creature Creator
Well just recently I was finally struck by the dreaded red rings of death on my XBOX 360, which means while I wait for a replacement, I’ll need to find other ways to amuse myself. Enter the recent trial download of the Spore Creature Creator.

If you don’t know what Spore is, it’s a game that’s been in development for quite a while and finally is going to be released soon. In Spore you have the ability to create your very own creatures and bring them to life. The Creature Creator gives you a glimpse of what you’ll be able to do with the full, retail game. After just a few minutes of playing around, I was hooked. As you can see from the photo above, I created my first little creature (and its offspring) in no time at all.
The trial creature creator allows you to not only create your own little creatures, but also take them for a little test drive. You can make them dance around, growl, giggle and whole bunch of other things. The video below is my creature and its babies dancing around.
I think it’s safe to say this game is going to make Electronic Arts a LOT of money.

Dude, this is so cool! I’ve been looking at their video tutorials and I’m very intrigued. I think my son is going to love the free trial creature creator version.

I remember watching a video about this game 2 or maybe 3 years ago. I knew they will need a lot of time to actually finish the game since it is so complicated and gives so many options. And I think I dont even have strong enough PC to support this. Hm, maybe its time for upgrade…
Yeh, I think kids will definitely enjoy it :) Once they release the final version of the Creature Creator, it’ll be $9.99 and will be available as a download from Spore.com. The full version of the Spore game will cost more, or course, but provides the universe for your little creatures to run around in and really come to life.
I keep hearing about Spore, but I’m afraid to get into it because I just don’t have the spare time. I have an addictive personality, and I just know I’d go crazy with it.

Hey Mike! It’s Grrrrrace! :) I haven’t been on for a while. I’m just trying to catch up right now. :D
Wow. You’re right. That game is going to rake in a lot of money for Electronic Arts! :)

I think this game will be very cool. I want to get it but I’m not a PC game fan. I am a console girl. I keep hoping that after it’s release on PC it will eventually come to a console, just like Sims did.

@Liz: It’s definitely something that could get addicting if you allow it to. You should get it ;D
@Grace: Hiya Grace! I think we all haven’t been around much lately…lol. Welcome back :)
@Diane: I’m more of a console person as well. I wouldn’t be surprised to see it eventually arrive on the consoles. If it makes as much as money as I’m guessing it will, it seems it would be hard for Electronic Arts to deny making even more by bringing it to the 360, PS3 and Wii.
Everyone at work is going crazy with the creator. One of the guys tried to recreate the green eyeball thing from Monsters Inc with more than moderate success. (#):)
