PostOnFire – Another Digg inspired site geared towards bloggers

pof.pngLast night while clicking around the interweb I happened upon PostOnFire with a Digg style interface, allowing users to submit and vote on articles. Like BlogBookmark which I also posted about recently, PostOnFire is for bloggers. I haven’t even had a moment to try it yet, but I’ll probably submit some posts there later today and see how it works out.

PostOnFire doesn’t have near as many categories to post your articles to as BlogBookmark, but perhaps they’ll add more in the future. It looks like the site is off to a nice start though.

Is anyone else using this site yet? How is it working out for you?

Hte to make a blatant shameless, sel-promotion but you might give Recommend Us (http://www.recd.us) a look into as well. It’s like Digg but it’s created by bloggers for bloggers and we openly accept bloggers submitting their own posts.

Thanks Mike. The site is still (recd.us) in BETA but it’s the sister site to blogratedirectory.com which is lighting a fire but we’re promoting by word of mouth only (helps keep the spammers and bots out). I’m not sure if you are listed at BRD, but if not, please add your blog and I’ll add you to the fetaured blogs list.

btw, great blog you have here.

Dave, that’s very kind of you to offer the featured listing! I hadn’t yet submitted there, so I shall do that.

I’ll make a post about Recommend Us as well. I’ve never been a big fan of Digg. I like the sites that are catered more towards bloggers =)

I agree with you about Digg. It claims to be a social site, but they ban you if you submit your own articles. That was pretty much the Genesis of the Recommend Us site. I got tired of Digg always pumping Fox or MSNBC sites or some totally stupid stuff because it’s part of that “convention” culture. Some of us “average” people and bloggers need an outlet to at least post our articles and see if they get response. They way I figure, if something isn’t worthy, it will fade into the archives but once in a while it’s really nice to see genuine bloggers who aren’t following the mainstream and regurgitating it get some credit here credit’s due.

    Hi Mike,
    Thanks for reviewing postonfire…
based on this review I’ve added a new category just for “blogging”…
Bloggers are also encouraged to submit their own blog posts…so I hope it’s a good spot for small bloggers to get traffic…
