Randomly breaking into song

I’m a little teapotI imagine I cant possibly be the only person who ever does this. Yesterday while playing a little online poker I found myself suddenly singing the “I’m a little teapot” song. Even stranger than that is the fact that I was singing it using a very bad Irish accent. Any Irish ancestors I may have probably wouldn’t have been very proud. It’s quite possible they would have disowned me. In case you’ve been living under a rock and have never heard this song, let me refresh your memory.

I’m a little teapot, short and stout
Here is my handle [one hand on hip],
here is my spout [other arm out straight]
When I get all steamed up, hear me shout
Just tip me over and pour me out!
[as line ends, lean over and tip arm out like a spout]

I’m a clever teapot, yes it’s true
Here’s an example of what I can do
I can change my handle to my spout [switch arm positions and repeat tipping motion]
Just tip me over and pour me out

I find that I do this sort of thing quite often, however yesterday was the first time ever singing the teapot song. I’m not quite sure what prompted it. I just started singing it. Most of the time I find myself singing Christmas songs. My favorite seems to be jingle bells.

So let’s hear it. What songs do you randomly sing during the day? When do you sing? Do you sing in the shower? Has anyone ever caught you singing silly songs?

hahah that’s cute. I think I have the Bob the Builder song stuck in my head for most of the day until I hear another song that makes me happy. :)

I don’t really sing randomly. However, I do catch myself humming every so often. It is always the same song. I can’t help it. Kung Fu Fighting by Carl Douglass just pops into my head sometimes. I have no idea why this is the only song that pops into my head in random intervals. You now all know my terrible secret :)

Sometimes get a song stuck in your mind and you keep singing it over and over the whole day lol.

@Jenny: I remember you mentioning Bob the Builder before. I guess you have the little one to blame for that ;P

@Andrew: Now I have that song stuck in my head. Thanks…lol. It’s definitely one of those really catchy tunes that you can’t help but sing along to :P

@Baron: Yes, like Kung Fu Fighting

Typically I find myself rocking out like Mick Jagger to “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” when my kids are whining for the umpteenth time about life being unfair and the lack of ability of Dora yogurt in our house.

@Kept Woman: That’s pretty funny. Isn’t great when someone has written the perfect song for just the right moments? :)

I sing all the time – and sometimes I sing just whatever song was on my iPod, but most of the time I just make up songs about things that are happening around me. And on my new 4-Disc compilation you can hear such popular favourites as: “I love my new jeans, they are so pretty” and “Fat Squirrel Don’t Eat So Much” and “Anything your car can do my scooter can do better”…:D

Since I am always singing I often get caught. Most people think it’s adorable, some people think it is just creepy. Whatever though, my life is a big old tone-deaf musical!

Hehe…I think you should totally do a podcast singing songs from your compilation, Danielle ;)

Yah! Cause that’s all I need. People having downloaded copies of me singing. I sing a lot, but not well. And I can be cruel, but I could never be so cruel as to record my singing. :)

@Rita: I also do plenty of humming as well. I always have one silly melody or another in my head ;P

@Danielle: You can’t possibly be any worse than I am. Not that I’d ever let anyone hear how terrible I am, but still :P
