A scam baiter’s life in the country

You may be familiar with the name Snoskred or have at least seen it around the blogosphere on occasion. Such a unique name is hard to miss. What you may not know is that the name belongs to a 32 year old woman living in New South Wales. She prefers to remain anonymous online, so yes Snoskred is not her real name.

Snoskred’s blog Life in the Country explores topics of life, music, art and one topic which I wasn’t familiar with, scam baiting, which we’ll learn more about in a moment. This post is my introduction to Snoskred’s blog and will hopefully motivate you to stop by and say hello.

The first question I had after reading Snoskred’s about page was, “What the heck is scam baiting?” After poking around for a bit I came across the post Scambaiting in a nutshell. To put it in simplest terms, scam baiting would be the art of scamming a scammer. I was amazed to see the large collection of fake checks Snoskred has received from scammers. The post also contains a wealth of information about scammer tactics and how the person being scammed can actually end up being held responsible should they actually attempt to cash a scammer’s bogus check.

There is of course a whole lot more to be found on A Life in the Country beyond articles related to scam baiting. As I mentioned earlier Snoksred also posts about life related topics and one particular post that stood out to me was her Thoughts on Making Positive Changes which talks about the stages one must go through in order to learn a new skill and make a change in their life. It’s all about really wanting something and going after it. It might just help motivate you to make a change for the better in your life.

I think if I had to make any recommendations on how Snoskred could improve A Life In the Country, I would suggest including a search box to make it easier for readers to find older posts and info they might be looking for. Beyond that there’s not much which comes to mind. It’s a great blog, packed full of interesting content and is more than worthy of an addition to everyone’s list of daily reads.

I might have to put the google search box on then.. I was doing a bit of a boycott. ;) But readers come first, before my annoyance at Google and what they’ve been doing to my blog friends..

I am a lot happier on Wordpress so far. I’m all settled in now and I am *loving* that post in the future option. ;)

    Thanks Mike! ;)

    Cheers!

A cool lookin’ blog indeed, congrats to my fellow Aussie Snoskred.

Talking about scambaiting got me thinking about the Nigerian scammers, and how lately a lot of people have tried to get back at the Nigerian scamsters… to various degrees of success. :).

Keep it up ( Mike and Snoskred ), love your blogs.

@Rob: Hey Rob! I agree. Every time I see comments left anywhere by her, they’re definitely well thought out and only help to further enhance discussions.

@Eric: I guess in a way she does do a little fishing ;P

@Baron: Hehe. I know I certainly appreciated how she came to our defense during that whole iReply drama thing ;P

@Snoskred: You’re welcome :) Google is definitely screwing more than a few good people over right now, but it’s hard to deny how well their search box works…lol.

DNXpert: That’s actually one of the many things she talks about with scam baiting :) It’s all very interesting to read about.
