Sometimes I’m here, sometimes not so much.

I think it’s safe to say that lately my posting frequency has been somewhere between sporadic and dismal. I do however have a good excuse, or at least I think it is. As I’ve mentioned in the past I have a huge love for independent films. I share this love with my cousin Jonathan. Together we’ve completed one screenplay which is registered with the Writer’s Guild and sort of on the back burner for the time being, but our more immediate interest is a new screenplay (a comedy) we’ve begun writing and have every intention of turning into an independent film. And by that I mean WE plan to make it. We decided it’s time to stop aspiring to be filmmakers and actually be them.

I’m sure that probably sounds a little crazy. “How can you be a filmmaker if you haven’t even created a film yet?” Good question. I think the first step to actually achieving a goal of wanting to be something is believing you ARE that something, regardless of whether you’ve actually attained your goal yet. Makes sense, right? Sure, it took me a while to come to that realization, but better late than never.

My cousin and I are extremely determined to find a way to raise enough funds to create our film. We won’t need a lot. Perhaps a few grand or so. If we have to sell off things we own or donate our bodies to science, we’ll do it. This is our passion and it’s going to happen. It may not happen tomorrow, but it’s going to happen and it won’t be our last film. We’ve already got two people set to play our leading roles, which is only helping to motivate us even more. The fact that those two people are excited to be in the very first film we ever create and do it without making money (up front at least) really makes us feel pretty darn good. They’re confident we can put together a story they’ll enjoy being a part of and I’m beginning to feel more confident about it each day. I can’t wait until everything falls into place.

Anywho, this is just me rambling about why I’m not around here as much lately. I hope you all have an excellent weekend :)

You know, I was talking a relative the other day about entrepreneurship and the like and one of the things that he harped on was living and breathing what you were trying to accomplish.

One of the big things he said was, (and I’m paraphrasing a bit), “If you’re starting a business as a rock guitarist, that’s what you are regardless of what your 9-5 is. So when people ask you what you do, you tell them rock guitarist.”

So I completely here what you’re saying and I wish you the best of luck!
