Make sure your blog rankings are up to date on Sponsored Reviews

I’m sure a lot of bloggers have signed up for Sponsored Reviews or have at least heard of it. The premise of Sponsored Reviews is that you can bid on writing jobs that advertisers offer for their products. Unfortunately I have had no luck whatsoever in having any of my bids approved. I think the biggest part of that was probably the fact that my blog was ranked so low in the Sponsored Reviews system. I was checking my rankings there yesterday and I couldn’t help but notice that my blog was ranked 1 out of 5 stars for Technorati. Well that sure didn’t seem right to me considering I’m very close to reaching the Top 5k of Technorati now! I decided to submit a ticket. Within minutes there was a response and to my delight they indeed updated not only my Technorati score but my link pop score as well. These increases vaulted my blog to an overall rating of four out of five stars. Wow!

So has that made a difference? It sure seems it has! After getting my blog updated, I rewrote my profile and then promptly bid on 9 or 10 opportunities. Today I’ve already been accepted for two of them! If you’ve been having trouble getting your bids accepted or have blog rankings that look out of whack, I highly recommend submitting a support ticket to Sponsored Reviews. I was very impressed with how quickly they handled the issue and resolved it.

I had the same issue, Mike. My Sponsored Reviews blog stats never updated since I joined several months ago. I noticed that all my ratings were low despite many improvements in my blog over the course of this time, and I requested that they update my stats. Apparently they’re supposed to update automatically, but my update was “erroring out” according to their support.

The manual update resulted in my overall rating jumping from 2/5 to 4/5 stars, with each individual stat that makes up the overall rating jumping from 1-2 to 3-4 stars. I also managed to be accepted for and complete a $50 review since that happened!

    Hey T-boy, ;)

You bring up a good point. I’ve had 3 out of 5 checkmarks for a while now. I suppose it might be worth a try to see if they’re really accurate.

On the bidding acceptance, I haven’t had one accepted in at least a month, maybe longer. Very frustrating! And I have 10 bids pending right now. Grr!

@Matt: Nice! I’m hoping a few more of my bids get accepted soon. There’s a couple nice sized ones I’d love to get :D

@Mark: Definitely! I knew something wasn’t right when I saw that low Technorati rank…lol. Their tech support guy mentioned to me that blogs will be updated soon, but they still went ahead and updated mine manually. It’s worth a shot :) Good luck on the bids! I was so surprised and happy to see two get accepted so quickly today :)

I have an update: from the time I posted a comment here, to right now, I received a reply to my request for help at SponsoredReviews. They manually updated MAMD to 4 checkmarks! Woo-hoo! I gotta hand it to them: they are very good with customer service.

I also asked why my bids haven’t been accepted. Basically, he said diligence is the key. A no-brainer, but it is frustrating that advertisers leave their bids open.

Sweet! They undoubtedly have the most prompt customer service I’ve witnessed so far from a paid blogging site.

I’ve had the same problem with bids just being left open and eventually disappearing. I’m hoping my formerly lame blog ranking had something to do with it ;p

That’s great advice Mike, I always assume they are actually doing automated updates. I gave up on Sponsored reviews about two months ago so I should go see if I’ve been updated. I’m still doing okay with PPP but I don’t enjoy having to check for jobs a zillion times a day. Maybe I’ll give sponsored reviews another try.

Hope you’re having a great day:)

Thanks for the tip! I emailed Grace (you know her– you’re on her Top Commentators :D ) this article. :)

As soon as the PR update hits my site, I’m certainly going to go through and do some updates at all the big ones. Now if I could only get my Alexa rank down. (#):)
