Will that spark ever return?
Aug 21, 2008 Blogging

It dawned on me today that I rarely even visit my own blog anymore. I used to load it up regularly, click around, and eventually become inspired to write something new. Now it seems I have no motivation to do so. I am perhaps in the midst of the worst blogging funk I’ve ever been in. I used to always have one thing or another to write about. It feels lately like the well has gone dry.
I’m thinking perhaps I need to do something different around here in an attempt to revive my blogging ambition. Probably the easiest way to do that would be start with a new look. Something fresh that I’m not tired of seeing all of the time. At the moment I don’t have any specific ideas, but I think I’ll do some fiddling in Photoshop perhaps and see what I can come up with. Hopefully that will be enough to get me going again.
Anyone else stuck in a prolonged blogging funk right now? What steps are you considering taking to work your way out of it?

Don’t worry Mike you’re not the only one. I’m beginning to all but hate every one of my blogs. Yet they continue to earn money which does somewhat inspire me to keep posting. I have to admit though, if there were no money there would be no blogs. I’d much rather spend all my time writing fiction!
Good luck with a new theme, no matter how often you post you’re still well known (and well loved) in the blogosphere! :)

To me every day is new beginning. I often start something and sometimes health push me back leaving them in a middle. Not to worry much, recently i have adopted a killer strategy which helps me a lot.
I go on vacations or play with kids. It works like a magic. Kids have tremendous energy as well as they are fresh, playing with them helps me to forget my worries and i am back to work with a new zeal.
Thanks and Good luck with your new design (it’s awesome)

I hear ya. But I attribute my lack of desire to blog or even visit my site to work stress. And it’s not just blogging that’s affected. I even skipped my fantasy football draft, which for me is huge. I think once the fall and winter rolls around, things will change.

I’ve been away for months now since the blogging spirit abruptly left me. But I think I’m on my way back. It was nice having a long break. But it is hard to catch up with everything when you get back though ;)

ill pretend to know what im talking about
1. start a new blog with hotter more powerful medium look etc. i just started a blog using my own name and it inspired me in a strange way because for once in my life i was actually keepin it real and tapping inspiration rather than my usual link bait bs that i type on the blog that this is linked to
2. separate inspired posts from the media and comment type of posts. even perez does this to chop the whole thing up afterall prolongued blogging is booring as hell if done too much
3. get into the multimedia game and for instance try getting into video and making viral videos, into pictures, video game creation things, coding, online programing etc etc etc that can drive traffic and ultimately create something else to do on the computer besides blog. many bloggers have these separate projects on separate blogs er maybe it is just me but i think we all need rebirth and new hobbies at least once a week unless im nuts which is also the case
4. try to create a communal blog and feed catcher. people are suckers for these feed catchers that are easy programming and can be honed into hot niches then have a blog with like 10 bloggers posting continuously and you ultimately have a beautiful piece of spam!
5. dont read my blog unless you like being depressed!
6. aimless internet surfing for the sake of surfing is always the best way to het the armpit ideas and bust out
7. start blogging from the iphone and stuff like those garmin devices. i love mobile blogging
8. dont listen to me i make every thing up!

Don’t worry about it man, it happens to us all at some point but it’s a real bummer when you know you need to be doing it but just can’t find that drive and motivation to go for it. To get myself back on track, i usually think about something that i really want or somewhere i’d really like to be and tell myself i’ll only be able to achieve those if i get some real hard work done, that usually works for me after some hard thinking and bullying myself. Things will look up!
