Three WordPress plugins I adore.

If you use WordPress chances are you’re like me and have a bazillion different plugins activated on your WP install. Some you may end up eventually deactivating because you don’t really need or use them anymore, and then there are some that you just love and probably couldn’t live without. Alright, maybe that’s a little extreme. Certainly we can live without plugins, but here’s three that really stand out to me.

  • Darren’s Related Posts – This is the easiest method I’ve found for linking posts of similar topics together. It works by using keywords. If you do a lot of memes you’d simply create a keyword called meme and affix that to all of your meme posts. The result is a great list of related links right below each post. This an excellent way to get some of those old posts you’ve made a little more attention again. If you have posts that could fit into more than one topic you just give them multiple keywords. Simple as that.
  • SRG Clean Archives – If you’ve been looking for a simple and tidy solution for creating an archive page for your blog, look no further. Just as the name of the plugin suggests, the outputted page is very clean and can even be styled with CSS if you’d like. You can even put it in your sidebar, though I wouldn’t advise doing that unless you want to end up having a really long sidebar :P
  • WP Dash Notes – This thing is so cool! How many times have you thought of something great to post about only to end up forgetting about it ten minutes later? I do it all the time. With this slick little plugin you’ll have a simple little post-it note right in your WordPress dash where you can keep notes, so whenever you login you’ll be reminded of those things you wanted to post about. Nice :)

I feel like such an idiot since switching to WordPress! I love it, but it is going to take me a while to get the hang of how everything works. There are plugins? ;) hehe. One of these days I’ll get bold and give them a try.

I’m not sure how many plugins you can use with a WordPress hosted blog, but if you put your site on your own web hosting account, there’s oodles :D

Hey Mike! Thanks for the mention and link.

Glad you like SRG Clean Archives. I have plans to add more features and improvements to it in the coming week, so keep and eye out for an update post on my site.

Your comic characters rock. I’ve now bookmarked you and will be stopping in on a regular basis.

Hey Sean, you’re welcome! I’ve got your feed in my list, so I’ll definitely be on the lookout for the updates :) I love the plugin. I’m even using it on my comic site instead of the built in archives that come with the ComicPress theme. I needed something that would archive ALL the posts and not just the comics :D

Glad ya like the characters :D

Your comic is funny. How long have you been doing the comic thing?

Side note, I added your web comic to my Fun Stuff page under web comics.

    Thanks :)

I’ve been doing these little characters only for about a half a year or so, but I’ve been drawing one thing or another my entire life. The comic is only just over a month old though. I first started just doing larger illustrations of them and eventually people started suggesting I should do a comic with them, so I decided why not? :)

Thanks a ton for the link! I’ll certainly add your site to my links as well :)
