XBList – Know when your XBOX Live friends are online

XBList

When I partake in gaming online with my XBOX 360, the majority of the time it’s with my Grifball teammates. If they’re not online I usually end up logging off before too long. Because of this I recently got to thinking that it would be nice if I had a little gadget on my computer that would let me know when my teammates log onto XBOX Live. I found the perfect tool.

XBList is a free piece of software for Windows that compiles your XBOX Live friends into a list that looks very much like what you’d see in messaging clients like AIM, Yahoo and so on. If your friends are online, they’re grouped according to what games they are playing. You can even add and remove friends right from within XBList. Very cool.

For those of us that own 360s, we all know how warm they can get if you leave them running, even if you’re not currently playing and just waiting for someone to hop online to play with. With XBList running on your computer and monitoring your friend activity, you can now give that 360 a rest and just wait til you see friends pop online in your XBList friends list.

This is a good idea. I never have gone so far as to leave mine on all the time, but I have texted everyone to see where they were and wanted to play.
